That tradition continues to this day, especially in the field of medicine: China is now one of the fastest growing destinations for international students studying medicine in the world.
In order to guarantee a high-quality and standardized educational experience for international students, the Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) first published the Interim Provisions for Quality Control Standards in Undergraduate Medical Education in English for international students in 2007.

China Medical University (CMU) was the first medical school established by the Chinese Communist Party. Its precursor was the Chinese Workers-Peasants Red Army Military Medical School and Chinese Workers-Peasants Red Army Health School founded in Ruijin city, Jiangxi province in 1931. After the Long March with the red army, it moved to Shan-bei. In 1940, proposed by comrade Mao Ze-dong and approved by the central committee of Chinese Communist Party, the name of the school was changed to China Medical University. Over 50,000 senior specialized medical personnel have been educated by CMU since its establishment. Its graduates are all over China and some countries and regions of the world. It nurtured so many famous medical experts and leaders of national health administration and education.

Dalian Medical University (DMU) was founded in 1947, originally known as Guandong Medical College. In 1949, it joined with Dalian University and the name was changed into the Medical College of Dalian University. In 1950, the organizational system of Dalian University was cancelled and since then Dalian Medial College had become an independent college. In 1969, the college moved to Zunyi, a city of Guizhou Province, to establish the Zunyi Medical College. By August 31, 2007, the total enrollment of undergraduates of the university has reached more than 4,400 and over 1,400 are candidates for Ph.D. Degree and M.S. Degree. About 700 are in higher vocational school, as well as nearly 300 are international students. Currently, there are over 4,400 faculty and staff, doctors and nurses in the university, among whom more than 500 are professors and about 510 are associate professors, including over 500 Ph.D. and M.S. supervisors.

Fudan consists of 28 schools and departments, with seventy undergraduate disciplines. The University confers bachelors degrees in seventy academic disciplines, and masters degrees in two hundred and twenty nine disciplines (with fifty-one of them established by the University itself), and doctoral degrees in twenty-four Level I and one hundred and fifty-four Level II academic disciplines (with thirty of them established by the University itself). There are also twenty-nine research stations that offer postdoctoral fellowships. Fudan now has an enrollment of 26,362 full-time degree candidates. Another 18,664 are studying at the schools of Continuing Education and Online Education. Besides, the Universitys of foreign students is 3,633 today. Fudan boasts a qualified faculty of over 2,678 full-time teachers and researchers, including 1,400 full professors and associate professors, 36 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 53 chair professors and 30 lecture professors of the Cheungkong Scholars Program, 17 chief scientists of Project 973. In the recent years, the University has been proactive in recruiting youthful strengths and optimizing the echelon of its faculty.

The University has a full-time enrollment of 12,000 undergraduates, and over 2,200 post graduate and doctoral students. It has been approved to offer undergraduate programs to students from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and foreign countries. In addition, it has established a multi-disciplinary and multi-level continuing medical education system. Now, FJMUs 477 professors and chief physicians, along with 682 associate professors and associate chief physicians, make part of its faculty members and medical personnel totalling up to 5,638, in which there are 528 masters and doctors supervisors. Our network of 13 affiliated hospitals (including schools of clinical medicine) and 29 teaching hospitals, affords desirable clinical teaching programs and training opportunities for medical students. Today, as a medical center in the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone, the University is fully committed to her mission to cultivate medical minds, conduct scientific research and development, explore disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, and to provide health care and social service.

The origin of Guangxi Medical University goes back to 1934 due to shortage of medical service providers in southern China during the war, which caused a large amount of life lost. Thus, people felt that it is urgently needed to found a medical school for cultivating medical personnel. The pioneers wished that the school can provide medical security for future generations in southern China. Therefore, in the early stage, the school only provided under graduate education, and at that time, the society also lacked for high level medical education. After seventy-eight years development, the University has become a comprehensive medical university that is able to cultivate professionals in various fields such as clinical medicine, preventive medicine, stomatology, nursing, pharmacology, etc. The number of students in the University has reached more than 11000. Guangxi Medical University is one of the thirty universities which have been authorized to enroll international students for MBBS program in English by Ministry of Education of China. Since 1958, the University has warmly welcomed international students from more than fifty-four countries

Hebei Medical University is a university in Shijiazhuang, Hebei, P. R. China, under the provincial government. a capital city of Hebei Province which is one and a half hours from Beijing by train , Hebei Medical University Established in 1894, it is one of the oldest and AAA graded medical schools in China. The staff numbers are over 7,100.Of these, 836 are professors, senior researchers and chief physicians. 1350 are associate professors and also have Indian, Nepalese and Bangladeshi faculties for the students from India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Currently there are 25,600 students totally studying in the Medical University. Hebei Medical University has long history of enrolling international students from countries including the USA, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, UK, India, Pakistan and Nepal. Founded in 1947, Jiamusi University is located in the charming city with optimum ecological environment, Jiamusi city, Heilongjiang Province in China. After more than 60 years development and construction, the university has found its way into the list of high-level universities given top priority by Heilongjiang Government. The university integrates post-graduate education, general higher education, continuing education and foreign students education. In 2009, it started its doctorate degree program and now it has entered the final stage of check and acceptance. Covering an area of 1.5 million square meters with the construction area of 1,020,000 square meters contained, the university has twenty-six colleges and sixty-nine research institutes. In the case of specialty setting, the disciplines involve 11 fields: literature, science, engineering, medicine, economics, education, law, history, management, agriculture and art. Jiangsu University was founded by combining the former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology (a key university), Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Teachers College with the approval of the Ministry of Education of China in August, 2001. It is a teaching-and-research-oriented comprehensive university, strong in engineering disciplines. It is one of the first group of universities that offer doctoral programs and one of the Top 100 Universities in China. The former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology grew out of Zhenjiang Institute of Agricultural Machinery, which was ranked among Chinas 88 key universities by the State Council of the Peoples Republic of China in 1978, and 3 years later became one of the first batch of Chinese universities qualified to offer master and doctoral programs.

Jilin University, founded in 1946, located in Changchun, the capital city of Jilin Province, is a key national comprehensive university, under the direct jurisdiction of the Chinese Ministry of Education, supported by Project 211 and Project 985. In 2000, the former Jilin University merged with four other universities, namely former Jilin University of Technology, former Norman Bethune Medical University, former Changchun University of Science and Technology, and former Changchun College of Posts and Communications. In 2004, the former University of Military Logistics also became part of Jilin University Jilin University has become the biggest university in China by its largest enrollment. Itoffers the programs covering 13 disciplinary categories, including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, military science and arts. Liaoning Medical University (LMU) is located in the city of Jinzhou in the province of Liaoning in the north-eastern part of China, 3 hours and a half away from Beijing by express train. Since its founding in 1946, the university has educated large numbers of outstanding doctors and other medical personnel and has made significant contributions to medical research, both in China and abroad. The university has conducted several major research programs, thanks to which it hasestablished its domestic and international reputation. LMU is actively involved in international exchange programs and has established cooperative links with many well-known universities and institutions. Liaoning Medical University (LMU) is located in the city of Jinzhou in the province of Liaoning in the north-eastern part of China, 3 hours and a half away from Beijing by express train. Since its founding in 1946, the university has educated large numbers of outstanding doctors and other medical personnel and has made significant contributions to medical research, both in China and abroad. The campus covers 1,140,000 square meters and lies in the north of the city of Jinzhou. There are 17 teaching departments, 98 teaching offices, 56 teaching laboratories, 3 main ffiliated comprehensive hospitals with 4700 sick beds and 169 bases for teaching and practice.

A key multidisciplinary and research-oriented university directly under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Nankai University,locatedin Tianjin on the border of the sea of Bohai, is also the alma mater of our beloved late Premier Zhou Enlai. In accordance with its motto of "dedication to the public interests, acquisition of all-round capability and aspiration for daily progress" and the trandition of "patriotism, conscientious ness, innovation and agreeableness", the University has produced batches of prominent talents such as late Premier Zhou Enlai, Dr. Shiing -shen Chern, Dr. Ta-you Wu and play wright Cao Yu. On December 25th, 2000 the State Ministry of Education signed an agreement with Tianjin Municipal Government on jointly establishing and developing Nankai University. Nankai University was founded in 1919 by the famous patriotic educators, Mr. Zhang Boling and Mr. Yan Xiu. During the Anti-Japanese war (1937-1945), Nankai University, Peking University (Beijng University) and Tsinghua University (Qinghua University) united in Kunming to form the renowned Southwest Associated University. Qingdao University is a new comprehensive university in Shandong Province, which was combined with the former Qingdao University, Shandong Textile Engineering Institute, Qingdao Medical College and Qingdao Teachers College in 1993. QU comprises of 25 colleges, 73 specialties with undergraduate programs covering literature, history, philosophy, law, economics, management, natural sciences, engineering, medical science, education, etc. There are 25 provincial key disciplines, laboratories, and engineering research centers, and 66 specialties with doctor and master programs. We have 2,000 teachers, including one member of Chinese Academy of Science, two members of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and another 7 external academicians, 281 full professors, 868 associate professors. Shandong University was founded in 1901 and is the second national university soon after Jingshi University (the Metropolitan University ) in the country. Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC) was established in 1964 and was one of the four earliest tumor hospitals in China. It is one of the affiliated hospitals of the prestigious Sun Yat-sen University. Located in the city of Guangzhou, it is the largest Integrated cancer center in southern China for cancer care, education, research and prevention. SYSUCC is a level III (highest rank in China) and class A hospital. It was awarded as the "key subject of Guangdong province" in 1999 and as "key subject of China" in 2001. As a renowned tertiary care center, it accepts patients from all over China and the Southeast Asia. SYSUCC is a modern medical service provider equipped with 925 ward beds, 18 operations room and 12 radiotherapy units. It has over 1,800 staff members with nearly 450 physicians. Wenzhou Medical University is a multi-disciplinary university under the administration of Department of Education of Zhejiang Province. It has 3 campuses, covering a total area of 800,000 meters; the main campus is located at Chashan University Town of Wenzhou.The history of Wenzhou Medical University can be traced back to Zhejiang Specialized Medical School, which was established in Hangzhou in 1912. In August 1958, part of Zhejiang Medical College was moved from Hangzhou to Wenzhou and began recruiting 5-year fulltime program students, hence the name Wenzhou Medical College which was upgraded to Wenzhou Medical University (WMU or WZMU) in 2013. Located in the historical and picturesque city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang University is a prestigious institution of higher education with a long history. Qiushi Academy,the predecessor of Zhejiang University, was founded in 1897 and was one of the earliest modern academies of higher learning established in China. In 1928, the academy was named National Zhejiang University.During the war time in 1940s, Zhejiang University moved to Zunyi, Meitan and other places in succession and stayed in West China for seven years. In 1946, Zhejiang University returned to Hangzhou. In 1952, due to a nationwide restructuring of universities, Zhejiang University underwent a reshuffling of disciplines. Some departments merged into other universities and Chinese Academy of Sciences. The remaining departments were divided and developed to become 4 specialized higher education institutions, namely former Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University and Zhejiang Medical University. Xian Jiaotong University, a national key university under the direct jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, is one of the countrys oldest institutions of higher learning. Founded in Shanghai in 1896 as Nanyang Public, it was renamed Jiaotong University in 1921. In 1956, at the direction of the State Council, the university was moved to Xian, and renamed Xian Jiaotong University (XJTU).
